Steel Prophet se formaron en 1983 en Middletown,Connecticut (Estados Unidos).
En 1988 se trasladaron a Los Angeles,California.
Este grupo de Power Metal ha realizado ocho discos,el último "Omniscient" en 2014.
Han tenido muchos cambios de formación,la actual es:
Rick Mythiasin (voces)(Agent Steel,ex-Redemption).
Chris Schleyer y Steve Kachinsky (guitarras).
Vince Dennis (bajo)(ex-Body Count,ex-Prong).
James Schultz (bateria).
Son miembros pasados del grupo:
Los cantantes Bruce Hall (ex-Agent Steel) y Nadir D'Priest (London).
El guitarrista Tim Thomas (ex-Hirax).
El bajista Glenn Cannon (ex-Hellion).
Los baterias Pete Parada (The Offspring,ex-Halford),Pat Magrath (ex-Riot) y Karl Rosqvist (ex-Danzig).
