En 1987,el virtuoso guitarrista Chris Impellitteri (25 Sep,1964, formó esta banda en Los Angeles,California (Estados Unidos).
El grupo empezó con una clara influencia de grupos como Rainbow o Yngwie Malmsteen,por ese estilo de tocar Heavy Metal NeoClásico.
En 2008,la revista 'Guitarworld Magazine',nombró a Chris Impellitteri uno de los guitarristas más rápidos de todos los tiempos. Y en 2003 la revista 'Guitar One Magazine',le escogió como 2º shredder más rápido de todos los tiempos,por delante de Yngwie Malmsteen,que quedó 3º.
Tienen nueve discos de estudio,tres EPs y un disco en directo editados.
Impellitteri han cambiado varias veces de formación,siendo la actual:  el cantante Rob Rock (Driver,Rob Rock,ex-Axel Rudi Pell) en 1987,desde 1992 a 2000,y desde 2008 hasta ahora. El guitarrista Chris Impellitteri,desde 1987. El bajista James Amelio Pulli,desde 1992. Y el bateria Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper,ex-Alcatrazz) desde 1999.
Algunos antiguos miembros son: el bajista Dave Spitz (ex-White Lion,ex-Great White) desde 1988 a 1990.
El bajista Chuck Wright (Quiet Riot,ex-Alice Cooper,ex-House Of Lords) desde 1990 a 1992.
El bateria Pat Torpey (Mr.Big) en 1988. El bateria Stet Howland (Lita Ford,ex-W.A.S.P.) desde 1988 a 1990. El cantante Graham Bonnet (Alcatrazz,ex-Rainbow,ex-M.S.G.) desde 1988 a 1990,y desde 2000 a 2002. El bateria Ken Mary (ex-Alice Cooper,ex-House Of Lords) en 1992,y desde 1994 a 1999.

In 1987,the virtuoso guitarist Chris Impellitteri (Sep,25th 1964),formed this band in Los Angeles,California (USA).

In 2008,the 'Guitarworld Magazine',named Chris Impellitteri as one of the fastest guitarists of all times. And in 2003,the 'Guitar One Magazine',chose him as the second fastest shredder of all times,ahead of Yngwie Malmsteen,who was third.
They have released nine studio albums,three EP's and a live album.
